The Project of Hristo Yavashev L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped Will Be Completed in September

L’Arc de Triomphe Will Be Wrapped in Recycled Silver-Blue Fabric

Organizers of a project called L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped have finally announced that the monument in Paris will open on September 18. The idea of the project for the Champs-Élysées’ main landmark belongs to the American sculptor and painter of Bulgarian origin Hristo Yavashev, who died in 2020 at the age of 84.

After the death of Christo, the project was decided to be implemented by his colleagues- the sculptor’s nephew together with the nephew of his late wife Yavashev.

The idea is to wrap the Arc in whole polypropylene fabric taking 25,000 square meters of material and 7,000 meters of red rope to hold it. And the cost of it is estimated at € 14 million.

The late artist conceived the project back in 1962, but the Paris authorities approved it only in 2017. Initially, the opening of the facility was planned for April 2020 but it was then postponed until the fall, and rescheduled again to 2021.

Now the exact dates on which the updated landmark which has been in the making for almost 60 years will be possible to see have become known- from September 18 to October 3.
