In Mexico, Special for Day of the Dead, the Drones Shaped a Skull in the Sky

Day of the Dead in Mexico

After the 2020 Day of the Dead parade was postponed because of the pandemic, thousands of people crowded Mexico City’s streets to take part in the annual celebration. In November 2021, children sat on their parents’ shoulders to watch the dancers dressed in indigenous costumes and feather hats. In addition, there were other events to honor the lives of people who had died.

Drone Art Special for Day of the Dead in Mexico

And on this occasion, a picture of drones flying in the midnight sky started going viral on social networks. In the image of Mexico City, we can see a group of drones forming a skull wearing a sombrero.

But if you look more precisely, you will see that this is only a digital work of art but not a photoshoot. The picture of choreographed drones has been circulating online for at least a year.

The biggest sign that these are not physical drones is that the mountain located in the background naturally takes place in Japan. This digital art was created by changing a photograph of Mt. Fuji taken in 2014. The background came from Flickr user Koshi Chiba, however, the source of the drones’ image isn’t still identified.
