The creator of a new museum exhibition, that will take place in Quebec, believes that people’s everyday excrement is the most valuable resource. And the forthcoming exposition is dedicated to this particular topic.

That’s why Colin Niss from the Museum of Civilization talks about an upcoming exhibition called Oh Shit! that investigates all aspects of human waste. The exhibit opens Thursday and will explore waste control and health problems caused by bad sanitation conditions around the world.

She said that in many parts of the world where cholera, which is associated with poor hygiene, continues to be the leading problem. Unfortunately, most people tend to laugh when talking about excrement, but this case is not funny at all. Colin said that centuries before, people used public toilets and discussed waste as a basic topic of conversation.

However, the exhibit will include humor but combined with more serious themes. It will also feature interactive elements, for example, a video game where you can manage a fecal.

The goal of the exhibition is to search for possible ways of using human waste to protect the future of the planet. The excrement, which is properly collected, can be used to produce compost or even turned into biogas, which can produce fuel and energy.

The exhibition will last until March 26, 2023. The organizers hope to gain enough interest among people and to send the exhibition to other museums of Europe.
