On the Basis of Art: 150 Years of Women at Yale Features Works of Various Women Artists

Yale Celebrates Women’s 150th Anniversary

The women artists who got their education at Yale university gather together for a new exhibition. On The Basis of Art: 150 Years of Women at Yale will take place at the Yale Art Gallery and will be curated by Lisa Hodermarsky.

In order to honor the works of Yale-educated women artists, the display will feature various topics and eras, including sculptures, videos, watercolor paintings, and photographs. The event also marks two anniversaries, namely 50 years of coeducation at the college and 150 years of acceptance to the university female students.

The exhibition affects feminist movements where different women generations explore various topics telling their own stories. For example, Maya Lin studies the memorials looking at them from different angles. And Victoria Sambunaris discovers the American landscape and turns its history into photography. Her large and colorful images give us a unique look at large changes in nature and human activity.
