Picasso’s Daughter Donated Nine Works From Her Father’s Collection to France

The daughter of the iconic Spanish artist Pablo Picasso donated nine works from his collection to the French government. In such a way Maya Picasso will be able to cover the taxes that she is obliged to pay after receiving her father’s inheritance. In France, the rate of this type of payment reaches 45%.

All of the works will be transferred to the Picasso Museum, where on this occasion a ceremony was held in Paris on September 21. In addition to the Minister of Culture and Economy, 86-year-old Maya took part in the event with her two children.

Nine of Picasso’s Works Were Given to France by His Daughter

The museum received five paintings, two sculptures, and a sketchbook of the painter. These also include a portrait of Picasso’s father dated 1895. All nine pieces will be on public display in April 2022.

Maya was born in 1935 in France. In 1938, the great artist dedicated his work Maya with her Doll to her, as well as about thirteen other works.
