Baccarat Brings Together Fashion Designers To Reimagine Its Iconic Harcourt Glass
The Harcourt glasses designed by Tom Van der Borght.

Eleven designers united together to create unique objects special for the 180th anniversary of the glass. And for this occasion, Baccarat presented its signature Harcourt glass. The creation with the customized design was showcased during the Paris Fashion Week. The event took place on Thursday.

The crystal-maker brought together Imane Ayissi, Benjamin Benmoyal, Tom Van der Borght, Clara Daguin, Honey F–king Dijon, Kevin Germanier, Mira Mikati, Charles de Vilmorin, Victor Weinsanto, Yoshiki, and Jarel Zhang who gave their own look to the glass, completely reimagining it.

For example, Dijon covered the glass with metallic paint, Mikati decorated hers with colorful crochet, and Yoshiki turned the object into a poisonous plant, adding glass tendrils. Germanier’s transformation was almost unrecognizable because of multicolored shards. Van der Borght, in turn, was inspired by the outdoors whose glasses are adorned with pearls, macramé, and tools from mountaineering equipment. Daguin brought a high-tech contribution with a sensor inside. So, when you touch the edge, it lights up from the bottom. And Ayissi’s glass is decorated with red beads.

Four glasses were designed as a kind of common image with all the different colors in order to express the uniqueness the individuality and celebrate differences.
