Almost five years passed since Rodney Smith’s death. And now, his works gain appreciation again. The photographer from America was a student of Walker Evans and graduated from Yale University.

Now, Hermès uses several of his shots in the house’s holiday campaign. And J. Paul Getty Museum has recently bought 10 of his works that are now displayed in its permanent collection. The series titled What Makes Fashion Photography Art arrives on December 8.

In addition, the photographer’s widow, who now manages his estate, discussed the plans for a forthcoming book, as well as a documentary film about her late beloved husband. Smith’s pictures mix surrealism with a playful style, that is often recognizable to many.
